About GNOFN

Greater New Orleans Funders Network (GNOFN) inspires and optimizes philanthropic investment in the greater New Orleans region to promote equity and increase justice. GNOFN convenes and organizes philanthropy to ensure that large investments in Southeast Louisiana result in a more sustainable and resilient place that allows the people who live in Greater New Orleans the chance to participate in decision-making and benefit from its improvements.

We believe in:

  1. better coordination and collaboration among philanthropy;
  2. a focus on specific geography;
  3. a focus on population level outcomes;
  4. a focus on equity and race;
  5. creating a conduit for partnership with state and local government; and
  6. building power with community through learning, grantmaking, and philanthropic advocacy.

GNOFN was founded by the following 10 foundations: Baptist Community Ministries (BCM), blue moon fund, Ford Foundation, Foundation for Louisiana (FFL), Greater New Orleans Foundation (GNOF), JP Morgan Chase & Co. (JPMC), Kresge Foundation, Surdna Foundation, Walton Family Foundation and the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. The founders’ intention was to use GNOFN’s platforms to mobilize public policy, public investments and philanthropic leadership and investments to move the needle on equity in the region.
